I will be playing the role of "Early Man" in the World Premiere of Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England, and I couldn't be more excited! Here is a breif synopsis of the play:

October 15, 2011 - November 13, 2011
By Madeleine George
Directed by Ken Rus Schmoll

Madeleine George’s new play is a deliciously smart and funny “academic sex comedy” about life in a small university town. Dean Wreen’s college is in dire financial straits, and a plan to close its on-campus natural history museum is sending unexpected shock waves in every direction—just as the Dean’s ex-girlfriend has come back into her life. This definitely complicates things with her much younger girlfriend, Andromeda. Neither budget cuts nor the shadows cast by seven about-to-be-homeless mammoths are any match for the sweet taste of romance in this hilarious and deeply moving play.

Rated M for mature content and language. This production features simulated sex between prehistoric college students and contemporary lesbians. No mammoths were harmed in the making of this play.

This has been a crazy week. A lot of things popped up in the personal and professional life that required my attention. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get an reviews up that showcased particular issues, but I atleast wanted to give a little review to the DC New 52 comics that came out this week. So let's be begin:

Batman & Robin #1
Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Art by Patrick Gleason

For those who are not up to date on Batman current events, Bruce Wayne actually has a son named Damian. Introduced by Grant Morrison, he's gone on to become the current Robin. If you pick up this issues, you'll get a good idea as to how he very much differs from Robins in the past. For regular readers of the Batman titles, you won't be dissappointed here. I'm definately onboard for this series.

Batwoman #1
Written by J.H. Williams III & W. Haden Blackman
Art by J.H. Williams III

This is the most beautiful book you'll see this year, or until issue 2 comes out....and then 3 and so on. I was nervous that ith Greg Rucka not being attached to this book that the script would suffer, but that's not the case. Old readers will be happy and new readers won't be lost. Do yourself a favor and pick this up.

Deathstroke #1
Written by Kyle Higgins
Art by Joe Bennet

Deathstroke is DC's most Badass Assassin. I'm not sure how long they can keep a title dedicated to a villian, but I'm gonna stick around for now since I had a lot of fun reading this. If you're a fan of Punisher over at Marvel you'll enjoy this. The ending of this issue is just so damn badass....

I'm trying really hard to refrain from telling you....

it's so badass....

badass, badass, badass....

Demon Knights #1
wWritten by Paul Cornell
Art by Diogenes Neves

Welcome to the Medieval times of the New 52 Universe. Swords, Sorcery, Dragons, Knights & the Demon!!! I'm excited to see the formation of possibly the first DC Super Team (as suggested in Stormwatch) of Etrigan the Demon, Madame Xanadu, The Shining Knight and who knows who.

There is also a fantastic love triangle between Madame Xanadu, the Demon & Jason Blood (who is the Demon's human form).

New readers should show no fear picking this up.

This book also gets the award for the best final line of a comic book, "We find the source of the problem....and we throw Dragons at it." Awesome.

Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
Written by Jeff Lemire
Art by Alberto Poticelli

Although I didn't like this as much as the version that existed in the Flashpoint Universe, this was pretty good. It's a great blend of Horror, Sci Fi, and Super Hero fun.

Although Poticelli's art did not blow me away, it does set a certain tone for the book.

After issue two I'll decide if I want to stick with the book or not.

Green Lantern
Written by Geoff Johns
Art by Doug Mahnke

This book seems to have simply picked up where it's pre-flashpoint counterpart left off. Hal Jordan is no longer a Green Lantern and Sinestro has returned to the Corp.

I liked the dual stories of Sinestro dealing with being back in the Corp. and Hal trying to adjust to life back on Earth. He's been away for so long, that bills are piling up, and he's out of work.

Grifter
Written by Nathan Edmonson
Art by CAFU

This was one of the stand out hits for me this week. I really enjoyed this. I only remember Grifter from the early years on Jim Lee's Wild C.A.T.S and this seems to be a reimagining of the character. So if you're a new reader this is entering on the first floor.

Actions, Adventure and Supernatural baddies.

Legion Lost
Written by Fabian Nicieza
Art by Pete Woods

This the story of the Legion of Super Heroes' Away Team. They've come back in time to stop a super villian from destroying the past only to be trapped here. A lot of people get intimidated by the Legion titles because there are SO MANY characters. This title focusses on a core groupof characters which is nice and if you just let the book take you on the ride, you should really enjoy it.

Fantastic art by Pete Woods. I'm gonna stick with this book!

Mister Terrific
Written by Erica Wallace
Art by Gianluca Gugliotta

He's the third smartest man in the world! Man o' man there are a lot of rich dudes in the DC Universe that double as super hereos.

The first half of the issues introduces you to the new52 version of Mr. Terrific and that part is great. You get a clear sense of who he is and the immediate world he lives in. He might with for best secret lair. The second begins to get the ball rolling of the first story arch. That's the part that I was a little iffy on.

Red Lanterns
Written by Peter Milligan
Art by Ed Benes

So this is the Latern color based on "Rage". I know they are not actually considered "Villians" but the Red Lanters are pretty damn evil. I'm not sure how long this title can sustain itself. I usually love Ed Benes' art but this issue seemed rushed.

Also, Dax is the famous Red Lantern that is actually just a house cat from earth, but Benes draws him too anthropomorphic.

Not sure if there enough appealing aspects of this title to outway the flaws. I'm on the fence about returning.

Resurrection Man
Written by Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning
Art by Fernado Dagnino

This is another new title from DC like Animal Man & Swamp Thing that has one foot in the DC Universe and another in the Vertigo world. It's great. Resurrection Man comes back from the dead with one power set and if he dies, he comes back with a completely new powerset. It's a cool concept and Abnett & Lanning are a writing duo that can keep this title interesting for a long time. I am on board.

Suicide Squad
Written by Adam Glass
Art by Federica Dallocchio

I actually was looking forward to this title and I couldn't have been more dissappointed. Jeff Parker's Thunderbolts over at Marvel is pretty much the exact premise of this comic book. A group of villians who must work for a government agency to work off their sentence. However, this title lacks the charm of its competition. It's also overly aggressive and violent for violence sake. I know people were up in arms about Harley Quinns new costume, but honestly that is the least of this books problems. FAIL.

Superboy
Written by Scott Lobdell
Art by R.B. Silva

One of the overall winners this week!! I realy enjoyed the story that Scott Lobdell is putting together. We go back to the beginning of Superboy's origin as a clone of Superman mixed with Human DNA.

I'm glad that Lobdell is writing this book as well as Teen Titans. I'm hoping for some great cohesiveness between the two.

So there you have it folks. A breif review of the 13 titles that came out this week from DC. This coming week we have 12 titles coming out. I hope to spotlight some titles individually and then do another rapid fire of the others. See you soon!!

Being only one person I wasn't able to get a full review on EVERY new issue last week, but I think I gave a valiant effort with reviews of Action Comics, Animal Man, Batgirl, Batwing & Detective Comics. So to wrap up the rest, I present to you my RAPID FIRE REVIEW of the remaining titles released the week of Sept. 7th.

GREEN ARROW #1
Writer: J.T. Krul
Artist: Dan Jurgens
32 Pages/$2.99

It seems we have here the Green Arrow familiar to those who watched "Smallville". A young rich industrialist doubling as a super hero. This time he has a team of people working behind the scenes for him gathering intel, making weapons etc. A solid first issue, easily accessible to new readers, but nothing to really note. Solid pencils by Dan Jurgens (minus the occasional weird facial stubble) and Krul has a firm grasp on the character. I'll stick around to see how it progresses.

HAWK & DOVE #1
Writer: Sterling Gates
Artist: Rob Liefeld
32 Pages/$2.99

Hawk and Dove are the Avatars of War and Peace. This titles is one of the few that draws heavily from events that took place prior to the reboot. To me it was off-putting and because the events it draws from were so recent (Brightest Day) it felt like this book doesn't fit in the "New 52". Rob Liefeld's art also reminds me of the 90's (not in the best way) which I know is why DC brought him on to the title. One of the goals of the reboot is to attract new readers but also lapsed readers from the 90's. This issue was not strong enough for me to pick up issue 2.

JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL #1
Writer: Dan Jurgens
Artist: Aaron Lopresti
32 Pages/$2.99

The fan favorite title from the 80's and 90's returns!! Sort of. New readers get a lot of characters introduced to them fast. It's a some what solid issue but not a lot of "WOW" in it. There was a little too much focus on Guy Gardner being upset that Booster Gold is leading the team. Lopresti's art is great and Jurgens is a true pro so I will stay onboard to see how the title progresses.

MEN of WAR #1
Writer: Ivan Brandon
Artist: Tom Derenick
40 Pages/$3.99

This was a surprise hit for me. I really enjoyed this reboot of the Sgt. Rock character for the modern age. This time we follow Joe Rock (which I hope is an homage to Joe Kubert) a military man fighting in a work of superheroes AND villains. I like that DC has a title out there that deals with normal people fighting in realistic conflicts in the DC universe. I guess a bit like Gotham Central focused on the Gotham City Police Dept. tom Derenick's art is great and gives a claustrophobic feel to the battle sequences. FYI: This is one of the $3.99 titles because I a secondary story by Jonathan Vankin with art by Phil Winslade.

OMAC #1
Writer: Dan Didio & Keith Giffen
Artist: Keith Giffen
32 Pages/$2.99

Fantastic art by Keith Giffen, however, this Jack Kirby inspired title fell short for me. Reading ALL the new DC titles you get a sense of continuity and cohesiveness that is not present in this book. I won't be returning.

STATIC SHOCK #1
Writer: Scott McDaniel & John Rozum
Artist: Scott McDaniel
32 Pages/$2.99

Stack Shock seems to be the Spider-man of the DC Universe. A young hero dealing with growing pains (getting a drivers license, school, family) while spouting sarcastic quips as he fight super powered villains. A possible good read for fans of the Static Shock cartoon a few years back or the MILESTONE comic book imprint.

STORM WATCH # 1
Writer: Paul Cornell
Artist: Miguel Sepulveda
32 Pages/$2.99

The Authority PLUS Martian Manhunter?!? This title SHOULD be amazing, but unfortunately it lands in the "okay" category. New readers will be definitely confused if they have no knowledge of The Authority (one of the greatest super teams EVER). Having a lot of faith in Paul Cornell's abilities I'm sticking around. Sepulveda's art leaves me unimpressed seems very static. On a side note (not Sepulveda's fault) If there was a group of superheroes that DIDN'T need a costume/age reboot it was Midnighter and Apollo.

SWAMP THING #1
Writer: Scott Snyder
Artist: Yanick Paquette
32 Pages/$2.99

Finally Swamp Thing is back in his own title in the DC Universe. This is a great first issue by Scott Snyder and Yanick Paquette. There is a little bit of prior knowledge of DC current events (the ending to Brightest Day) but nothing so major to take away your enjoyment of the book. This book includes an amazing opening sequence and one of the creepiest ending sequences I've read in a while. I'm so glad horror comics are making their way back into the DC continuity.

So there you have it folks! All 13 titles released on week 2 of the DC new 52. Whew, just in time for the next 13 to come out......oh man.

Thanks for reading and please leave some comments if you are enjoying the reviews. I'm always trying to improve the ol' reviewing chops as I go.

 DC COMICS
Written by TONY S. DANIEL
Art and cover by TONY S. DANIEL
32 pages/ $2.99

Lives Up to the Title of “Detective” Comics

Feels Frank Miller Inspired

A Nice Touch of Nostalgia in a Contemporary World

Here we are, the comic book in which DC comics very name derives from, Detective Comics. At the helm of this Juggernaut is Tony Daniel, who is no stranger to Batman. He’s recently did the art for Grant Morrison’s, “Batman R.I.P.” storyline, as well as, writing and drawing “Batman: Battle for the Cowl”.

What we have here is a really strong story with some really strong art. Kudos, Mr. Daniel. When I first started to read this book and saw that for the majority is told as inner monologue by Batman, I groaned. AT FIRST!! Hear me out. The lines are a tad cheesy like, “Forget it Joker, you can’t run, I own the night.” And as I said earlier I groaned, but then I remembered the title of the book. Detective Comics. DETECTIVE Comics. This book is being set up like a modern day noir book. The thick inner monologue, Batman’s interaction with Commissioner Gordon & Alfred, they all lend themselves to that style.

Daniel's art also lends itself well to evoke the noir feel. The color palette isn’t black and white, but it is very muted and there are no extreme brights. He seems to have changed his style a little for this book and taken some cues from Frank Miller and melded the two styles together. His lines are a little more jagged and sketchy, less think lines and added thinner ones. There are one or two times that Batman looks a little funny or disproportionate, but as a whole, this book looks great. His page layouts are fantastic and the comic reads well in the “guided view” on an iPad, but I highly recommend going back and just looking at the whole pages after.

There is a nice touch of old timey feel to the book as well. Batman uses things like “Batbots” which are little Bat-like cameras to find and spy on villains, and the entrance to the Batcave is disguised using a hologram, which for some reason made me thing of the old 60’s Batman TV show (yes, I know it wasn’t actually a hologram in the TV show, but holograms seem silly to me).

Even though The Joker uses a delightfully cheesy wrist mounted Joker-faced grappling hook in this story, he is NOT a funny clown prince. The Joker is really brutal in this story, almost too much for my taste, but his actions to evoke fear and disgust and he seems like a fitting nemesis for this version of Batman.

I know I haven’t talked much about the actual story of the issue, but it really doesn’t matter much. (Hey Look, Mom, No Spoilers!!!) Detective Comics has a lot riding on it, being the flagship title and Tony Daniel succeeds in setting it off to a great start.

As a final note: The last page is a “WTF?!?” moment and if it doesn’t have you coming back for the second issue….well….you should…..aw man WHAT THE F----

"Yeah we need to talk.
 DC COMICS
Written by JUDD WINICK
Art and cover by BEN OLIVER
32 pages/ $2.99

Batman + Iron Man = Batwing

Great addition to the Bat Family

It seems that with my reviews of this week's "New 52" issues, I've been releasing them in alphabetical order, so why stop now.

I will be the first to admit that when I heard that “Batwing” was getting his own title in the DC New 52, I snickered. When the character was introduced in “Batman Incorporated”, a comic devoted to Bruce Wayne finding heroes around the globe to join his war on crime, I couldn’t help but think of another term designated to “Batwing”. Come on, any dude in his mid twenties to thirties will agree. To refrain from being vulgar I’ll include a link to the definition HERE.

Setting that aside, I really enjoyed Batwing #1.

This is the story of David Zavimbe, an officer in the Tinasha Police Dept. in Africa. He has been chosen by Bruce Wayne to deliver much need justice to Tinasha. Equipped with an armored suit, more Iron Man than Batman. Judd Winick is one of my favorite writers in comics today, and he delivers a strong first issue. We get inside David’s head and learn much about what he stands for. He’s a smart cop who is weeding out the corrupt members of his police force, constantly questioning them even though he knows the answers to make sure they aren’t withholding clues or evidence. You can also see why Batman has chosen David to dawn the mantel of Batwing and have the honor of wearing a Batman-esque logo on his chest.

Ben Oliver’s art is wonderful and matches the tone of the book perfectly. His backgrounds are sparse but he makes up for them in his fantastic characters. Their facial expressions are great.

Africa is much different than Gotham and it is interesting to see a Batman-like character finding a way to bring justice to it.

I would definitely recommend this first issue to any Batman fan or any Marvel Zombie who is into Iron Man or Black Panther who is looking for a DC book to try.

 DC COMICS
Written by GAIL SIMONE
Art by ARDIAN SYAF and VICENTE CIFUENTES
Cover by ADAM HUGHES
32 pages/ $2.99

Strong Introductory Story

Familiar Batgirl to Fans of Animated Series

Killing Joke in New Continuity (Phew)

So for those of you who haven’t been reading comics lately, or have never at all, most likely have one name in mind when someone says: BATGIRL. Obviously, Barbara Wilson, Alfred’s niece. Right? From the critically acclaimed cinematic masterpiece, Batman and Robin…..wait….no….well, it was a piece of something. No. No. No. You think of Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Gordon’s daughter. Whether if was from the 1960s Batman TV show, played by the elegant Yvonne Craig (one of my first crushes) or the Barbara Gordon from the Animated TV show, voiced by Melissa Gilbert.

If that’s the case you’ve been out of it a bit, and that’s okay. Welcome back or welcome for the first time. Just to bring you up to speed there have actually been FIVE Batgirls, Barbara Gordon actually being the second. In 1988, Alan Moore wrote a one-shot graphic novel entitled, “Batman: The Killing Joke”. In it, The Joker finds Barbara Gordon and shoots her, piercing her spinal column and causing paralysis. Barbara went on to remain in a wheelchair, but became the most powerful hacker in the DC Universe with the new name of Oracle.

**Spoilers**
In the DC Comics “New 52” continuity the events of “The Killing Joke” occur. However, this time Barbara survives the ordeal with the use of her legs.

We pick up with Batgirl/Barbara Gordon 3 years after the Joker’s attack. Barbara is just getting back into action as Batgirl and we follow along as she takes down a group of killers who are murdering sets of families. Gail Simone and Ardian Syaf work really well together to create an exciting action sequence filled with Barbara’s inner monologue. It’s youthful, energetic and fun to read and watch.

This is carried through out the entire comic including a touching father/daughter scene between Barbara and Commissioner Gordon, A fun first meeting of Barbara’s new roommate & an eerie introduction of a new villain. Special mention goes out to the way in which Simon and Syaf handle Barbara’s nightmare regarding her attack 3 years ago and the ramifications it has on her in the present.

Definitely check out this first issue, I’m sure you’ll come back for more. I know I will be.

 DC COMICS
Writter: JEFF LEMIRE
Art by TRAVEL FOREMAN and DAN GREEN
Cover by TRAVEL FOREMAN
32 pages/$2.99

For those not familiar with Animal Man let me give you a crash coarse before I jump into the review.

Animal Man: is a super hero that can mimic the abilities of any animal that he is in close proximity to. He has been around since 1965 but came into prominence in the 1980’s when Grant Morrison revamped him under the Vertigo line at DC Comics. Even that is enough if not too much information for you to have before jumping into this book.

Jeff Lemire can tell a story, and he can pull you in quickly. That’s what he does here with Animal Man #1. Page One of this issue is a magazine interview with Buddy Baker, aka “Animal Man”. From this interview we gather that Buddy has been a stuntman, animal rights activist, movie star, as well as, a super hero. We also learn that he’s somewhat of an icon to hipsters, a family man…oh and he’s also a vegan. How many of us have read human-interest pieces like this in magazines? This device makes Buddy Baker, Animal Man, come across as a real person, since we haven’t seen a single comic book frame, our mind formulates a real person in our head. Great way to start.

That’s not to discredit Travel Foreman’s art. His page layouts are fantastic and give the book a distinct look. For those reading this comic book on an iPad, I recommend reading it with the guided view OFF so you don’t miss out on the whole page.

What we have here is a family drama.

Buddy is trying to keep his family together. The interaction between he and his wife and children seems very sincere and you feel like you know someone in this situation (minus the super powers).

After an interesting night out dealing with a hostage situation at a hospital, Animal Man returns home to sleep and has a foreboding nightmare. This is where Foreman’s art really shines and I must give a special nod the colorist Lovern Kindzierski. The dream sequence is in grey tones and reds, which makes for a very eerie experience. The dream sequence, and final page has a horrific beauty to it.

I knew there was a lot of buzz on this issue, and to be honest I wasn’t sure what to make of it prior to reading it. After reading it…wow, it’s damn good.

DC COMICS
Writer: GRANT MORRISON
Art by RAGS MORALES and RICK BRYANT
Cover by RAGS MORALES
40 Pages / $3.99

Masterful Writing & Art

A Younger Superman Finding His Way

Great Action & Emotional moments

Perfect for New Readers

So here we are in week two of the reboot of the DC Universe. Last week we had Justice League #1 which gave us some building blocks to this new DC Universe and the formation of its premiere team. This week we have Action Comics #1 which does much the same for the company’s flagship character, Superman, this time with writing duties by Grant Morrison and art by Rags Morales.

Admittedly I am very hot and cold on Grant Morrison’s writing. There are a lot of things he’s written that I don’t care for. That is in no way th case wth Action Comics #1. I am confident as the story progresses I will quickly go from liking it to LOVING it.

**Minimal Spoilers**

What we have here is a “everything that was old is new again” story. This is the Superman who is faster than a speeding bullet and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. And it’s great!! Morrison is able to strip this character back to basics, harkening to his original concept while giving him modern sensibilities. We have a young man who is learning about his powers and isn’t afraid to show off. He hasn’t learned to fly yet so he runs through the city evading police. That's right folks, evading police. Metropolis isn’t the shining city it’s usually perceived as, but one full of corrupt cops and organized crime.

Best thing Grant Morrison and DC Comics did was give Superman a lesser level of invulnerability. He’s as much of a God as he once was, at least at this point in his development and it really helps to make him more identifiable and brings excitement in danger to the book.

There is a particular touching scene where Superman is almost captured by Soldiers after saving a building full of people trapped while it’s being demolished. The rescued people gather to protect Superman and give him time to escape. It’s a nice moment that shows the city has chosen their champion and are willing to protect him.

We are also introduced to Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen who work for a rival newspaper at this point in the new DC history. It also seems like Jimmy is the same age as Clark and Lois which doesn’t seem to take away from anything.

I take off my hat to Rags Morales. His art is exciting and filled with emotion. The fast moments are fast and the slower dramatic moments are endearing. I’d also like to make a point that the page layouts with well in full view and also in the guided view if you are reading it digitally. (guided view = the comic flows panel to panel). One of the things you’ll hear me review which each comic is how well it caters to guided view for all you new readers on your ipads :)

Action Comics #1 is a fantastic issue. I can’t encourage you enough to pick it up.

So with the new website, I really want to hold myself accountable to write more. More blogging and more reviewing. Since the DC Universe is starting anew as well, I thought, "What a perfect time to get my first review out in years!"

DC Comics
Writer: Geoff Johns
Art & Cover by Jim Lee & Scott Williams
40 Pages / $3.99

So here we are. The beginning of a new era. Justice League issue 1. For those who are not familiar with the term "The New 52", let me bring you up to speed in as little words as I can.

DC Comics, the company that brings you Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash and many more has decided to hit the reboot button and discontinue every single title it published and start over with 52 brand new ones. Not only new titles but a new way of distributing its product. DC Comics will offer all their titles digitally the same day it comes out in the stores. So to all you iPad users out there, this might be the time to get into, or get BACK into comics. I could go into more detail but that is enough basic information for you to be caught up. And now onto the review.

Justice Leauge #1 is a good start. It's got great art by arguably the most popular artist in comics today, Jim Lee, and is written by the guy who is pretty much in charge of bringing Green Lantern out of obscurity and pretty much reshaping the DC Universe, Geoff Johns. Justice Leauge, much like The Avengers over at Marvel, should be THE flagship book for DC. Sadly, it has come up short in the past years. However, I think that this Justice League book has a lot of potential to return it to that grand stature. So let's get into shall we?

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

The book starts off 5 years in the past. We see two dialouge boxes stating: "There was a time when we didn't call them its' Greatest Super-Heroes, There was a time when the world didn't know what a Super-Hero was."

Indeed this is the case. We start off with Batman chasing a villain across the rooftops of Gotham. The both of them are being pursued by three Gotham City Police Helicopters opening fire on them. The art is fantastic and the pacing of the chase is palpible. I would say that Lee is having a lot of fun on this book. To quote a director friend of mine, "Pace, Pace, Pace!!" This book has it.

We are t hen introduced to Green Lantern in a very grand fashion (give it a read) and here is where I think Johns really knocked it out of the park. His new characterization of Hal Jordan as Green Lantern is great. Johns has A LOT of experience with Hal and I think it would have been really easy to keep him pretty much the same, but here we have a seemingly younger and definitely more cocky GL. H e's bright, loud and impetuous. My favorite aspect of his character is that he often refers to himself in the thrid person. I really hope they keep it around.

As a huge Batman fan, I love the fact even though everything is new in this version of the DCU (Super-heroes just appearing now, GL new to the GL Corps., Super-heroes never meeting before) Batman still knows everything. He knows who Green Lantern is even though GL wasn't sure if Batman actually existed, and he also knows of the Alien in Metropolis. Batman = Greatest. Detective. Ever.

The focus of this issue is mostly on Batman and Green Lantern. However we get a few pages of a pre-Cyborg, Cyborg and the final page is a great full page shot of the new Superman. I personally like the youthful look and new costume design. (bye bye red undies on the outside.)

This issue is good. Really good. Is it great? I wouldn't go that far, but I was really pleased. You get thrown into the world and it's one you'll want to hang out in. Hopefully issue 2 will bring Wonder Woman, Aquaman & The Flash into the fold since they are absent from this issue, but that is okay by me. Knowing Johns, this will be more of a marathon than a sprint. He'll take his time and really develope the story. Which is fine by me. I mean, who doesn't enjoy the "Getting the Team Together" stories when it's done right

Final Note: The choice for the impending big villain......AWESOME!!!!
